Hmm... brand new, this record doesn't sound too great. Lots of pops and background noise. The record probably had enough static to power a small neighborhood (thanks Colorado winter!). I don't have a cleaner handy that I can use, but I may drop it by a record store to see what they can do. This is the CB version.Still, one of my favorite Tool albums and a really cool looking picture disc.

Just how limited is this a million per territory. LOL

My copy has some pops , but not really annoying . But I wasn't expecting much from a picture disc ! still a Good Buy , At least The (Stoughton) Jacket is Amazing.....

If your copy has lots of pops and skips two things 1. clean it VERY well 2. try using a DJ cart with tracking force in the 2g-3g range. This combo eliminates much of the noise and prevents skips IME.

Compared to the older picture disc this seems to play a ton better. I've only had two sets to compare so very limited sample size.

I actually think this sounds amazing (mine is the CB-pressing) and not only in a Picture Disk context - I can really recommend it!! I give it a rating of 5 stars soundwise (but it might be somewhere between 4-5..) - I play it on a fairly solid old vintage pioneer pl-630 with an ortofon 2M blue PU.. Does anybody know when this CB-pressing is from? I guess it's after the 2005 press mentioned via link in this CB-press.. Cheers!

So... turns out this entire album is a giant puzzle revolving around Fibonacci numbers. If you can solve the puzzle, then you learn the new order the songs should be played in. This album is called "Holy Gift".

My copy is super clean FWIW. Sounds like a remaster.

Listening to physical copy now, Havent noticed much in the way of noise or distortion/ mastering issues.

Chris Bellman improved the mastering, but, it's still a picture disc. My copy sound really good until side 4. Crackle from hell at the lead-in. It's a shame. Just give me a clean, black vinyl version.

The one I have Is terribly noisy. Hopefully the rumors of remastered reissues will be true. I’ve bought it twice, the other one is worse. It’s used as wall decor.

Same experience for me. Mind sharing how you've used it as wall decor? I've used the 12x12 frames before but am considering slicing the gatefold up to get the most out of the artwork and slapping it on the wall. Overall kinda a bummer but I did do my research heading in so knew my odds on a good copy were not great.

The remastering sounds fairly great in my opinion. floor noise is present in this edition, but is practically non audible while louder passages play. I love a lot how the cymbals are very clear (not the case in many other vinyl i own). If you can find a copy of this that is not the picture disc option i would say you would be extremely pleased.

Is there any reference to the label Zomba apart from the shrink? I got the disc without the shrink.

I have exactly this version, but I bought it in MARCH 2012.Mine could be the Zomba version just like that one: https://www.discogs.com/fr/Tool-Lateralus/release/10315855 but there is no mention of the label name Zomba. It is absolutely identical to the version above. I guess the Zomba version differs only with the shrink (and I don't have it).

In which country did you bought this? Are you sure with the date?

Even after a clean and storage in an anti-static sleeve, it still sounds horrendous. It's worth it for the collector, but not the listener.

Well I'm very unhappy to say that mine 2lp picture disc doesn't work well at all. That's a pity for such a nice release. Maybe next one will be better.

The sound is actually really good, especially for a picture disc. The downside with this pressing is mine was full of pops and crackles the first time I played it, and I clean all of my albums before ever get played. I cleaned the records a couple more times and the pops have gone down significantly, but still enough there to drive me nuts. There seems to be more pops than some of my 50 year old albums that look like they’ve been thrown down a gravel road. Hopefully a few more times cleaning the discs a few for times will make this enjoyable to listen to. Overall minus the pops and crackles, and if I can get rid of them, this is a great album of course, and I think it sounds pretty good.

Yes, I have experienced the same thing - but I've also found that playing an album several times can actually help quite it down - especially with my MoFi Original Master Tape pressings.

This has some good sound for a picture disc. washing it a few times will get rid of the tics or jumps if your pressing has any. Make sure to get the Chris Bellman cut. The first pressing is so ****** (Well with my experiences with it anyway). All new pressings you see in shopShould be a CB cut for the person asking below. i have bought 3 looking for a good pressing and all have CB in the wax.

I have this release...Soundquality 5/10, at the first spin I thought my record player was broken, like speed went up and down but in fact it is the record.

I have the same issue with my copy. The audio quality is fairly ok, give it a 7. Though the pressing is poorly done , elliptic at times makes it out of tone. Hard to ignore.

I only had side 1 and side 2 spinning, indeed side 2 is better. I never tried the second disc because of the sound quality. But a nice pair of vinyl ( to hang on the wall )
