Gospel Gossip's second full length delivers heavily on the promise of the excellent "Atlantic Blue" 7" of 2012. A treasure of dreampop with shoegaze flourishes, the LP consistently plays up the band's strengths: melodic and memorable songs, and Sarah Nienaber's rich, delicate vocals. The gauzy cascades of reverb serve the songs rather than swallow them, and the arrangements and instrumentation strike a perfect balance of simplicity and sophistication. Indebted they may be to bands like Galaxie 500, Mazzy Star and Slowdive, but Sarah's perfect, natural voice is their ace in the hole. If you're looking for a hidden gem that slipped under the radar, this is it.
