I have a clear, purple and green marble vinyl copy of this, never seen it elsewhere, does anyone else have that?

This is the first record Classic Trax ever sold, when we set up trading 20 years ago.

Apparently, Vitamin K was junkie slang for ketamine back in the day this track came out. Despite of the drug related title and connotation, well in the spirit of their previous two EPs, it's a furious relentless proto jungle track, with fast and erratic breakbeats layed over a short repetitve melody. A really noteworthy excursion into a musical style which would shortly conquer London. The remix of Illegal Subs (the track title was allegedly a word play as well, where it winked at prohibited substances as well as giving a nod to the potent level of sub bass this tune had - enough of it to be deemed illegal) is far from being as effective as the original, mainly due to the absense of the absolutely ferocious percussion and deep bass line. Luckily the original's timeless sample "You are the people of chemistry, the people of physics, the people of music, the people of civilization, the people of rhythm" is kept, or better yet, fractures of it are scratched into the track, while the whole sample in its entirety gets dropped around a minute before the track's up. The 2 Bad Mice remix of Space Cakes is great as well, with more of the old school 'ardcore breakbeat madness, samples sounding like dwarfs high on helium and reggae vocals, all complemented with memorable synth leads. Overall, this is every bit worth your money and time as the previous two Kaotic Chemistry EPs. For those interested in digging up some interesting old school rave classics, this would be a great place to start, plus EPs like this one tease the listener, giving him an initial venture, or attempt if you will, at what will later fully develop into d'n'b/jungle.

To the reviewer below, it seems you are mixing up L.S.D with Drum Trip II. The track with the beeps is L.S.D, the tracks with the "Do it now kid, do it now get ill" sample is drum trip II, a remix of the track Drum Trip from the "5 in one night" EP from 1991 (Shadow 005). I don't rate any of the tracks on this EP as any kind of breakthrough or standard within the DnB scene. They are good tracks, but nothing new or remarkable at the time. Just a continuation of the Kaotic chemistry / 2 bad mice strictly drum and bass sound of tunes like waremouse, 2 bad mice and the afore mentioned drum trip. Those tunes are the true prototypes.Ps - The locked groove mentioned in the notes is wicked for scratching with :)

"Do it now kid, do it now get ill." I really cant believe no one has ever commented on this record. This is a piece of true-skool DnB history. What you have here is a serious peice of breakbeat hardcore. Not the usual happy stuff of the era. This is proto-jungle at its finest. And every tune on this is grade a and playable. I remember most DJ;s having 2 copies so they could mix the tunes together since every tune was so playable. Spacecakes: With that bassline, the crazy breakbeat, the beatbox breakdown, the beastie boys sample and the "People of Rythym!" Drumtrip II: the beeps man. The beeps and it loops at the end. I used to smash the hell out of this tune. The first time I heard it, I thought some DJ had a tone record and a breakbeat loop. Seriously. The other songs are classics in there own right. I dont feel like typing anymore, but this record goes down in history as a true classic and influential record. It's just as important as Goldies Saint Angel, Crstl's Warp Drive, Ed Rush and Opticals Wormhole. This isnt your standard 1992 chipmunk/piano happy vibes. This is straight up DnB in its infacy. Just ask ANY dj, be them house, techno whatever if they were playing in '92, they had this record in the bin, man. Dont take my word for it. Randall's newly posted J-Tek set opens up with it. ;) Plus, Dom and Roland did a remix one of the tunes around the time Shy FX's bambatta was on dub.

Just got hold of this repress and ...damn, this is a vicious piece of wax. Still slays me dead 14 years later, just like that first fateful night i heard "space cakes." This is 'ardcore as it should be. Intense looped breaks, helium-ish vocal samples and some sinister rolling bass to move you. Throw in the occasional synth line, but don't overdo it. No overproduction and unintelligible drum 'n bass (d'n b?) lines too busy to follow to be found here, just as much as needed to push you over the edge. The breaks are intense and the bass is relentless on all these gems. Got news for ya, they don't make 'em like this anymore. Space Cakes is the standout on this EP in my mind (although it's hard to say one of these tracks is the best). "You are the people of chemistry, the people of physics..." Choice sample over some twisted, stretched "heart attack" breaks and vocal click-type percussive effects. If you ain't got a copy, or you missed this the first time around way back when, do yourself a favor and pick this one up. It is large!!!!
